Back to the Future

It’s now the time where we make our new year resolutions and look forward to the next 12 months. We look forward to what we are going to do and how we are going to do it. We must be positive and look forward. Move on. Put the past behind us. Live in the future. No regrets. Don’t look back……. I can’t think of any more clichés.

Hang on a minute. Why shouldn’t we look back? It always seems that looking back on the past is a negative. I don’t understand why. What we do in the future, is largely defined by what we’ve done in the past. It’s like a tapestry.

I have a big and exciting year ahead. It’s my first full year as an entrepreneur and my first full year being a Work Bee. I’m going to use the experience I’ve had in the last few months to aid me develop in these roles. I’m certainly not going to disregard the past and what I’ve done because it’s seen as a negative. Quite the opposite.

I don’t think I’ve made any huge serious mistakes in the last year but I will happily reflect on what I could have done better. I can then work out how to put this into practice. Create new processes and new ideas. I’d say that’s a positive.

I’ll look back and reflect on the new people I’ve met since becoming fully involved in The Work Bees. Customers, Mentors, Suppliers and fellow networkers. I’ve met some great people and look forward to meeting new people and developing the relationships I have with last year’s newbys. Another positive.

I’ll look back at the links I’ve made on social media and what I’ve learnt from what’s shared out there. I think of how much my knowledge has expanded over the last year and look forward to learning more. POSITIVE!!!

I’m very pleased with how we’ve done at The Work Bees in the last year that it makes me proud and appreciative of the hard work that’s gone in. It gives me confidence for the future. Hmmmm you guessed it. Positive!!

All these thoughts and mindsets suggest to me that the best way for me to look to the future is to start with the past.
