Can more people become business owners?

The answer, in my opinion, is a resounding yes.

If you as an individual have a talent, something that someone else sells, then you have an immediate opportunity to join them. If you have a talent that isn’t yet sold, it could be the next new thing and so it needs some research.

I have spoken to so many very talented individuals, who have skills that other people would be willing to pay for, from photography to trainers, from artists to sales advisers. But they don’t. Why? Because they don’t know how to do the things that turn that hobby or skill into something that can pay its way.

The wonder that is Gap Learning CIC are proving this already as they support individuals with an interest in art and combine a crafts course with learning about how to make that pay using online shops or word of mouth. I am very much looking forward to seeing their art on display at an exhibition this weekend at the corn exchange.

We very often find individuals have started a business (or dream about doing so) for one reason, because they love doing what they have to offer. Then it comes to turning that into a reality and all of a sudden they are confronted with a world they have no clue about.

Logo design, website production, marketing, finances, VAT, blogging, market research, competitor analysis, profit and loss and networking. Urrgghhh. It is enough to put anyone off that doesn’t know how to go about it. These are the blocks and this is one of the many reasons The Work Bees started.

We would love to hear from you. We want to hear your business ideas, we want to feel your passion and we want to help you make them become a reality.

Don’t put off something that fills you with warmth because the process fills you with dread. Contact us and share your story, we’re listening.
