What's New
I'll be sure to share news, examples of the work I do and information and resources that matter to me or I think might matter to you.
Speaking at the NIHR celebratory event
I was recently invited to speak at the NIHR annual celebratory event for Nurses and Midwives as part of my work with Public World. It was a joy to share with the 300 attendees all about the importance of professional autonomy, unlocking the skills, experiences of our teams and putting more humanity into the work we do to serve our clients. It was a wonderful opportunity.
Marking 15 years of 360 feedback
Recognising how long you have been doing a certain type of work is valuable on one hand but makes you old on the other. 15 years of working in the world of 360 degree feedback, I wonder how many individuals I have worked with over that time, how many times we have talked about confidence and imposter syndrome, how many times I have helped people find new approaches or helped them to recognise blind spots.
Newly appointed BOOM lead
The very first networking I did as a new business founder was a local group in my town of St Ives Cambridgeshire. I am eternally grateful that I found this group because all of the people I have met remain friends and colleagues. Ed Goodman, its founder was so welcoming and supportive as were many others from the start. I am proud that Ed has chosen me to take the baton of running the Business Owners Open Mastermind business that he set up in 2016. Thank you Ed for entrusting this amazingly supportive approach to addressing challenges that business owners face.
5 years project comes to a close
This Interreg2Seas project that I have been working on with Public World (formerly Buurtzorg Britain and Ireland) comes to a close 5 years after we started. This project was to help organisations understand the barriers and challenges that come from trying to adopt alternative approaches of organisational form. From Hierarchy to professional autonomy, from instruction to trust from command and control, time and task to a relationship based approach. I am speaking at this event to share the 253 barriers and challenges that companies across four countries faced and how they worked to overcome them.
Design Sprint Training
It was quite a coup attending a two day workshop with THE Jake Knapp on how to run design sprint workshops. It was a very fun and info packed event and I can now say, I am trained to run these special events to design new products or services.
Long Table Discussions
I was very lucky to attend the Stronger Things event and A Long Table discussion on Power. I hadn't heard of the Long Table Discussion tool before but it was a fascinating approach to having big conversations with people who had never met each other before. This type of event has been described as 'a performance of a dinner party where conversation is the only course. I would definitely use this approach myself to explore big topics or difficult discussion points.
